The crate should be your dog's safe haven.
It should NOT be a punishment!
Instead, it should be a place for your dog to unwind, relax, and settle down.
Teaching your dog how to go to their crate should be taught like any other command.
First of all, grab your dog's motivator - toy or treat.
Get their attention and put the motivator in front of their nose. Say the command and point to your dog's crate. The dog's nose should follow your treat and the action of pointing in the direction of the crate.
Once they have entered the crate, congratulate and reward! Say break and repeat.
